You will realize that there are hundreds of weight loss exercises that you can do and all you have to do is figure out which ones you want to make part of your routine. You can walk, jog, run, bike, work out in a gym with free weights or use weight machines, you can use the treadmill or any other machine for cardiovascular work.
You can swim, do water aerobics or do regular aerobics. If you live in a place that has a lot of nice weather, you can get some friends together and go to a driving range and hit some golf balls, play tennis, basketball, baseball, softball, or just hit some balls in a batting cage.
If you live near a wooded area like a forest preserve, take a hike, or go canoeing, or paddle a boat around a lake. You don’t have to be bored doing the same thing at the gym day after day. I think a lot of people forget that a lot of the things I mentioned are exercises and count as weight loss exercises.
Let’s see what else we can come up with. How about taking a dance class, or a spinning class, yoga is another good one, ooh, Pilate too. Now don’t knock yoga or Pilate until you’ve tried them, they can be very tough exercises. Did you know there are twelve phases or levels of Pilate? Yes, it sounds a lot easier than it is and if you’re not prepared for how hard it can be it will kick your butt until next week. Seriously.
If I had to pick a few exercises out of the things I listed, I think I would start with walking until I could go for about thirty minutes without feeling like I was dying, then maybe switch to biking until I got the same results. Everything I would do would make me stronger and then I think I would find a pool somewhere and start swimming. Swimming is one of the best things you can do because you are in the water and you get the resistance from the water and you also use almost every muscle in your whole body to make the strokes.
When I can swim for thirty minutes non-stop, then it’s time to do some weight training. You see, it doesn’t matter what you do as long as you do something for thirty minutes every day of the week. Do something you enjoy doing at least a couple of times a week, this way you will break the monotony of going to the gym every day.
Working out should be fun, not tedious or boring. If you are bored, then you need to make things more interesting and find something fun to do. Maybe there is a nature walk you can take with a group, hey that would be great this time of year, you could get out and see all the colors of fall, do some bird watching, maybe capture some wildlife images if you bring your camera while you are doing weight loss exercises.
